You're Welcome Here

Are you feeling stuck, frustrated and unfulfilled as a result of dissatisfaction with relationships, ineffective patterns or self-destructive habits? Do you repeatedly aim for a different outcome, only to end up back where you started? Are you ready for lasting and profound change?

In my practice, I use a therapeutic approach that is exceptionally powerful. Some of my clients have experienced remarkable results in as little as one session. How can this happen? I combine an unusually effective combination of methods known for producing rapid and significant change.

As a psychotherapist, I bring to therapy the skills I acquired while studying for a Doctorate in Naturopathy (natural medicine) and a Ph.D. in Psychology. My book Healing & Wholeness: Complementary and Alternative Therapies for Mental Health examines thousands of studies that have demonstrated the superior level of healing that is possible when mental health is addressed from a mind-body-spirit perspective.

More Tools = More Solutions and More Satisfaction

Abraham Maslow said, "If you only have a hammer, you tend to see every problem as a nail."  Similarly, a therapist who knows only psychology has just one type of tool in their toolbox. Because of this, traditional therapists tend to see emotional or psychiatric problems as rooted in a client's psychological make-up. In reality, we are a combination of mind, body, and spirit, and a purely psychological approach to psychotherapy only addresses one aspect of who we are.

Compassionate Support

Having been in therapy for many years, I understand the importance of feeling genuinely cared for and supported, while at the same learning new ways to change behaviors and beliefs that are no longer useful. As a therapist, I offer a deeply human, healing partnership.

I have worked with people to alleviate the myriad of problems that come with being human. Emotional pain, depression, illness, loss, regret, emptiness, transitions, recovery from family influences, yearning for change, opening to love, forgiveness, self acceptance, activating one's spiritual practice, discovery of the true self, and finding one's unique place in this world are a sampling of the issues I commonly help with.

Every Therapy Session in Custom Made

My approach to therapy is pure, simple, and extraordinarily effective. To achieve consistently outstanding results, I tailor each therapy session to meet the immediate needs of my client.

One of the therapists I most admire was Milton Erickson, who said "I create a new therapy for every client." It is my guiding principle that each person is unique and needs to have therapy custom made just for them. For example, if you are seeking alternative methods for treating depression, we can combine the therapies I learned while studying for my Doctorate in Naturopathy with traditional psychotherapy techniques. If you prefer a strictly psychological approach to therapy, we can rely on the skills I developed while earning my Ph.D. in Psychology. This well-rounded and integrative approach ensures that you will get the most appropriate and powerful evidenced-based therapies available.

Making a determination on which methods to use in therapy is easier than you might think. To do so, I trust my own intuition as well as the preferences and inclinations of my client to tell us what each therapy session should look like. This spontaneity combined with sensitivity makes my work kind, swift, exciting, and enlivening.
